New gallery opening!!!
Wendy has fulfilled a long held ambition and opened her own Stunned Emu Designs Gallery.
It is situated at 56 South Terrace, on the cappuccino strip in Fremantle, Western Australia. The gallery has given Wendy the opportunity to display larger pieces of art work, and extend her range of products. Wendy also still trades in the historic Fremantle Markets.
The gallery is open 7 days a week, (for opening hours see stockists section) and the market shop is still open from Friday to Sunday every week.
Wendy looks forward to welcoming both old and new customers to her new gallery.
Margaret River Cow Parade
Wendy was one of 86 artists chosen from WA and interstate to paint a lifesize fibre glass cow for the Margarat River Cow Parade. Cow parade originated in Zurich 10 years ago and has since been to about 60 cities. Margaret River is the first region to host Cow Parade and it will be very exciting for the area, bringing lots of tourists keen to see what the artists have come up with on their cow canvas. The cows will be farmed out to various businesses in the Margaret River region from March to end June 2010. Wendy's cow titled "We didn't do it" has been sponsored by Busselton Central Shopping Centre and will be on display there prior to the auction, which will be held on July 10th with all proceeds going to charity. Wendy's cow is only one example of these bovine beauties; the Margaret River Cow Parade is a must see for 2010 !

Children's Book Week 2009
In August 2009, during Children's book week, Wendy spoke to more than 1500 children from various schools and libraries about her books , Australian animals, and her drawings. During Book Week children also dress up as their favourite characters from books, and below is a picture of one of Stripey's cutest fans, kindly sent to me from a teacher.

Wendy and Stripey's latest adventure !!!
650km walk along The Australian Alps Walking Track
From April to June 2009 Wendy embarked on a solo bushwalking adventure across the high country of Victoria, NSW and the ACT. The Australian Alps Walking Track has extreme terrain and unpredictable weather, and the track ranges from fire trails, to faint foot pads, to trackless forest. Navigational skills and self sufficiency are a pre requisite for the trail and many months of preparation were involved. Wendy dehydrated all her own food and had to make 11 food drops prior to beginning her walk, carrying up to 6 days worth of food with her at a time. Although the 2 month walk was a huge challenge both mentally and physically, the rewards in experience and awesome scenery made it worth while. Some of the highlights were encounters with the wild brumbies and lyre birds mimicking outside the tent. Other memorable moments included being caught in deep snow at the end of April as well as having to have a massive dreadlock cut out of her hair !
Stripey production in Alice Springs !!!
In September 2009 as part of the Alice Springs Desert Festival, "Katapilla Kids Productions" performed an inspiring interpretation of "Where's Stripey". Wendy travelled to the outback town to watch her book come to life with about 20 striped and feathered emu chick kids and lots of colourful adults as well. Awesome production, well done Margaret and Katapilla Kids.
