Wendy currently has 2 children’s picture books published, with another due out in 2010. The first book “Where’s Stripey” came out in 2005, and won the prestigious WA Premiers Award, Children’s category.
“Where’s Stripey?” largely came about because Wendy wanted to write a story which incorporated the characters already on her giftware items (eg: cards and magnets), especially the emus. “Where’s Stripey” has been so popular, with parents, teachers and children, that Wendy then decided to do a set of three, each one with Stripey the emu chick as the main character.
Her second book, “Scrambled egg”, came out in Oct 2007, and was shortlisted for the WA Premiers Award. The third book is due in 2009.The books are for ages 2-10.
In the back of the books, there is useful information about emus and other Australian animals, which teachers have found very helpful. A "Stripey" activity book is due out later in 2009, for children, parents and teachers.
The books, Stripey book bag and Stripey soft toy are all available from Wendy’s shop at the Fremantle markets. If you are lucky she will be there to sign it for you (usually, but not always on a Friday).
